2007 proved to be a very good year for the development of SLIVER technology, culminating with international IEC certification for SLIVER panels. Of course, this was no surprise to us as Origin undertakes an extensive range of internal testing well beyond the international standards to demonstrate the ability of the product to stand up to a long life of environmental challenges. SLIVER technology has proved incredibly robust throughout this tough testing regime.

2008 is shaping up as a challenging and hopefully rewarding year as we look towards the next step in building the SLIVER business, that of entering the manufacturing phase. We are developing and refining the manufacturing process and are making progress towards our goals. Through the year we will be evaluating the exciting range of opportunities in front of us and will post any update here. Given the continued growth of the international solar industry driving lead-times for critical equipment, should we build a new facility it generally takes at least 18 months until product is available for retail or wholesale once any decision to invest is made.

The highly talented and devoted team developing SLIVER technology at Origin’s Regency Park facility in South Australia has grown to more than 50. Team members have a mix of backgrounds and experiences including international high-tech semiconductor research and manufacturing, acclaimed academics, new venture development and skills honed in South Australia’s diverse manufacturing industry.
